10 Players Sit Out Chiefs Practice

The Kansas City Chiefs were missing seven players earlier in the week for their first OTA and that number has already grown. When Romeo Crennel led his team onto the practice field Thursday, there were 10 players unable to participate.

Joining S Eric Berry, OL Rob Bruggeman, RB Jamaal Charles, S Kendrick Lewis, DB De’Quan Menzie, TE Tony Moeaki and LB Brandon Siler on the sidelines were rookies OL Jeff Allen and RB Cyrus Gray along with veteran DE Ropati Pitoitua.

Allen was in a walking boot thanks to an ankle injury suffered on Monday, Gray was resting his hamstring and Pitoitua has a calf injury.

There’s never a good time to suffer an injury, but for draft picks like Menzie, Allen and Gray they can still use the time to grasp the play book. Once training camp rolls around that’s when they need to get on the field and show what they can do in full contact, game situations.

In addition to being without the 10 injured players, the Chiefs were also missing two players who were not at practice at all. WR Dwayne Bowe continues to stay away from Kansas City while his franchise tag remains unsigned while rookie DL Ethan Johnson missed the days actions for personal reasons.
